Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Planners parties.
Audiences can look forward to learning which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
